About Easy Tiger Bake Shop & Beer Garden

Easy Tiger began with a simple idea back in 2011: We all need to Slow Down, Stay Awhile.

From that simple mantra, and consistent with the culture of its hometown of Austin, Texas where all can come as they are, Easy Tiger Bake Shop and Beer Garden was born, right on the east end of historic Sixth Street along the banks of Waller Creek. With a relaxed vibe and a building that was imperfect in so many ways, the little beer garden with its festoon lights, ivy wall and legendary ping pong tables became the perfect spot to Slow Down, Stay Awhile for locals and travelers, those young or old and anyone who needed a change of pace.

Meanwhile, upstairs Easy Tiger “dough punchers” began baking delectable Bavarian pretzels, whipping up the now-legendary beer cheese and perfected the art of hand-shaping and baking traditional hearth breads on stone decks using premium ingredients. As a beloved local spot (Voted Austin Chronicle’s ‘Best of Austin’ year after year), folks began to stop in for coffee and a croissant or just to watch the bakers perfect their craft.

Want to know our secret ingredient to great bread? The thing is... there is no secret. Better bread takes two simple ingredients: time and care. Each loaf begins with artisan flour from select wheat and whole grains, shaped by hand and given time to ferment in the way of the world’s finest baking traditions. ..They are wholesome, nutritious and bursting with flavor.

Today, 50,000 folks in Austin enjoy those breads and baked goods all around town, while the Food Network named Easy Tiger to its “America’s Best Bread Bakery” list and Southern Living Magazine lauded ‘best in the city (if not the country)” while that humble beer garden and bake shop was among the nation’s ‘Best Beer Gardens’ (Food & Wine Magazine).
